Wisdom Wheel: The Abstract Quest for Universal Patterns
The ancient traditions of the world provide us with useful (overlapping) models of cyclic and derivative causality. The following diagram is modeled after the Ba Gua » causal theory, a mechanical model for binary and ternary derivation of phenomena from the two basic polarities of existence — negative-positive, static-dynamic, above-below, good-evil — that weave our world of dualities.
The Wisdom Wheel is a useful abstracted tool for mapping and cross-referencing causal relations and cyclic phenomena. It serves as a basis for contextualizing and grouping together archetypal concepts from a broad range of systems of thought — whether in Indic, Chinese, Abrahamic and Pagan traditions, or in the worlds of particle physics, psychology, anthropology, history and sociology.
The great infinity is an endless flow of reality, the totality of all existence and non-existence. It starts where it ends, and it ends where it starts. We are all particles on the pipeline, flowing from here to the unknown.
Nondual singularity is the paradoxical ground of being, the ultimate object of both science and spirituality. The sphere of nonduality is the origin of all mental and material phenomena.
The balance and flux of two basic polarities is the fundamental animating force of our existence. Whether Yin and Yang or Matter and Mind, keeping them in tune stabilizes our sense of reality.
The four phenomena are the first (2x / binary) sphere of composite polarities in existence. They represent the four fundamental forces that create the recurring cycles underlying our reality.
The eight principles are the second (3x / ternary) sphere of composite polarities in existence. They represent sets of archetypal qualities and principles across diverse traditions of thought.
